Our Story and Philosophy: Ottica Carraro is a historic eyewear boutique opened in Venice in 1967 by Danilo Carraro. Today, in Calle della Mandola, our family-run shop spans two generations of independent opticians, welcoming every client with the genuine warmth and care of a family. Our choice is simple: we steer clear of mass-produced trends. Instead, we carefully select niche, handcrafted eyewear defined by exceptional craftsmanship and unique design. In Calle della Mandola
Nestled in the San Marco district along the elegant "Calle della Mandola"—a vibrant path connecting the Accademia and Rialto—Ottica Carraro stands as one of the city’s most renowned boutiques.
First opened in 1967, the shop was fully renovated and restored in 1986 by architect Mario Valentini, a direct student of the legendary Venetian architect Carlo Scarpa. The space features two striking cubic display windows and beautifully styled interiors that blend brass and marble with sophisticated elegance. The architectural layout was intentionally designed to create seamless yet distinct areas for sales, the laboratory, and the refraction room.
